Alia Bhatt replaces Jacqueline Fernandez as TRESemme India brand ambassador? October 09, 2020 at 06:38PM

In 2016, after the success of the film Dishoom, actress Jacqueline Fernandez was roped in as the brand ambassador of the popular hair care brand TRESemme India. However, one now hears that actress Alia Bhatt has replaced Fernandez to become the new face of the brand.

Alia Bhatt is currently one of the most bankable actresses in Bollywood with a string of hits to her name. The actress also has several brands in her kitty. She is the face of brands like Maanyavar Mohey, Lays, Fuji Instax, Frankfinn airlines, Caprese, Make My Trip, and Cornetto among others.

On the work front, Alia Bhatt will next be seen in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi. If not for the pandemic, the film would have been running in the theatres right now. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie will see the actress in a completely new avatar. The actress will also be seen in Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra along with Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan. The film that was supposed to release in December has also been postponed. Bhatt has also been signed for Karan Johar's magnum opus Takht.

With the Home Ministry giving permission to reo-open cinema halls from October 15, theatre owners and filmmakers are gearing up to get their films to the big screen. Ishaan Khatter and Ananya Panday's film Khaali Peeli will be the first film to hit the screens once it reopens. The Government has allowed to reopen theatres with 50 % seating capacity. 

Khaali Peeli which was released on an OTT platform on October 2 will get its theatrical release on October 16. The Tamil film Ka Pae Ranasingam will also be released in the theatres on the same day. 

Khaali Peeli had also released at a few drive-in theatres in Gurugram and Bengaluru. The film also saw limited overseas release in United States of America, Singapore, Netherlands, Austria, Fiji, Africa, Mauritius and New Zealand.

Believe it or not, the drug anthem ‘Dum Maro Dum Mit Jaye Gham’ from Hare Rama Hare Krishna was to be sung by Lata Mangeshkar! At least that was composer Rahul Dev Burman’s original plan. But then the film’s producer-director-leading man Dev Anand, who had a keen ear for music, suggested Asha Bhosle for ‘Dum Maro Dum’.

“Lata sang two beautiful solos ‘Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka, Ho Ho Re Ghungroo’ and a lovely duet ‘Kanchi Re’ for me in Hare Rama Hare Krishna. ‘Dum Maro Dum’ didn’t seem right for her,” Dev Saab told me.

That’s how Asha stepped in. Even after her sterling singing the song almost didn’t make it into the film.

When Dev Anand heard ‘Dum Maro Dum’ he told RD he found it strange and decided to drop it from the film. In a panic RD pleaded to at least let the song be part of the film’s soundtrack album, if not part of the film.

Eventually ‘Dum Maro Dum’ was filmed and became one of the biggest hits of RD and Asha’s career. Ashaji once told me ‘Dum Maro Dum’ was the most requested song at her live concerts after ‘Oh Mere Sona Re’ (Teesri Manzil).

This does not mean Rhea Chakraborty should not get justice. Whether she is guilty or not is up to the courts to decide. She must not be judged by the media.”

In any case Shatruji, who is not a keen student of sensationalism, says enough brouhaha has been made over the issue. “The nation is the midst of the worst possible health and financial crisis. Are we not supposed to address these issues? Why are serious issues being ignored?”

Produced by Rashmi Sharma Telefilms, the second season will go on air in October and will see several old & new characters amidst the auspicious festivity of Navaratri.
